The Young and Ambitious Abramo Vitale, Guglielmo Marengo and Ettore Gaetano Donn set up the company named ’CALZIFICIO TORINESE’

THE SECOND WORLD WAR BREAKS OUT

1939

Crisis hits as World War II starts. To support the Allies and speed up production, mass production systems and technology are introduced to knit socks. Calzifico Torinese starts to search and develop coating products to improve the technical development of socks and other manufactured items.

THE REBIRTH

1951

The Company enters into the Clothing Market. The Company’s new home is built and would be the headquarters of the Company for over 65 years.

THE COMPANY EXPANDS

1955

David Vitale becomes the Chief Executive Officer in 1955. Mr. Vitale leads the Company’s merger with Manifattura Tessuti Maglierie S.P.A. Inc. After the successful integration, Maglificio Calzificio Torinese is changed to MCT.

THE TRADEMARK

1956

As the “K” mark wins the trust of consumers, it is envisioned into a bigger concept. With further development, the “K” mark expands into multiple categories – representing superior design, production standards and quality control.

NEW CEO MAURIZIO VITALE

1968

At the young age of 23, Maurizio Vitale is appointed as the new CEO of MCT. Maurizio’s dreams are to make Kappa the leading sports brand in Italy and begins an ambitious push to build the Brand.

ROBE DI KAPPA LA POLO

1973

With attention to fine details, and construction, the iconic Kappa Pique Polo Shirt makes its way around the World.

SPORTSWEAR

1978

With the emerging trend of sportswear, Kappa recognizes the passion of sport and begins to develop and market Authentic Sportswear. This effort is guided by the principles of the Brand – focusing on quality and high design.

SPORT SPONSORSHIP

1979

The Italian passion for Soccer, leads Kappa to campaign the Brand across Clubs around the World. Kappa makes its way to the English Premier League, Spain’s La Liga, and the Liga Calcio. Kappa’s commitment to quality and style is focused on Soccer’s most iconic Teams and fabled Athletes.

SPONSORS THE COUNTRY’S TRACK-AND-FIELD ATHLETICS TEAM

1981

Inspired by America, the Owners come to New York and see the Sportswear and Sports inspiration. Kappa makes an ambitious move to cross the Atlantic and sponsor the 1981 New York Marathon – planting its feet in the United States.

THE LOS ANGELES OLYMPICS : TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN TRIUMPH

1984

As the Brand continues building in the United States, it sponsors the US Olympic Track and Field Team for the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. A mission begins to combine technology that will support athlete performance, with the highest quality, fabrics, and construction that Italian design and technology can offer. A legacy is created for Kappa and the Olympic Team – and history is made by the Team. Iconic Athletes like Carl Lewis, and Florence Griffith Joyner write history that will forever be celebrated from these moments.

FOOTBALL FOR THE WORLD

1985

The Company strives for Global success, but realizes it cannot do it alone. The Concept of BASICNET is born – leveraging a network of global entrepreneurs, all linked together by a common Vision and Technology. Rapid expansion ensues, bringing Kappa to markets all around the World.

THE SEOUL OLYMPICS

1988

Following the 1984 LA Olympics, Kappa participates in the 1988 Seoul Olympics, now as a Global Brand, across multiple sports disciplines. The longstanding values of the Brand are translated across numerous sports for global athletes.

AN OLD DREAM IS REALIZED

1999

An Old Dream is realized, and the Italian National Team is signed. The Azzurri are outfitted in Kappa. Kappa’s young designer develops an innovative fabric, designed to keep the Italian Players agile while facing their opponents on the field. Kappa’s “Stop Stopping” jersey supports the Azzurri’s march to victory by giving them a non-tearing jersey as they seamlessly combat their opponent’s challenges on field. Kappa’s reputation in revolutionary design is most notably placed in history at this moment.

AZZURRI PASSIONE

2002

Kappa’s sponsorship base expands across the Homeland. Technical collections are developed for the Federazione Italiana Rugby, and Kappa deepens it’s technical prowess with the sport of Rugby.
